The Real Estate Photography 101 Category And FAQ Page

July 9th, 2013

greenvalleyEvery week I try to do one post that focuses on some aspect of the basics of getting started in real estate photography because it’s very clear from many of the questions I get that there is a bunch of people out there just starting at building a business as a real estate photographer.

Over the years I’ve used a three mechanisms to collect posts on the the basics of getting started:

  1. The Real Estate Photography 101 category
  2. The Basics category
  3. The FAQ page

I’ve realize that I’ve not been totally consistent in using these three things over the years. I’ve decided to update  the FAQ page and make it a condensed list of all the very best posts on the basics of getting started (I haven’t started this yet).

So if you are a newbie in real estate photography I suggest checking out the most recent posts in the Real Estate Photography 101 category (use the drop-down on the very bottom of the right side-bar). In the near future I’ll have the FAQ page updated to list the best of the Real Estate Photography 101 category.

Update 7/10/2013: As a result of Chris’s comments below, I changed the category drop-down to a simple list. I think this will look and work better and display all the categories.

  • Larry, I know I’m probably just missing it, but where is the Real Estate Photography 101 section at?

  • Ben,

I didn’t see the drop-down he mentioned, but I’m also on my phone at the moment! I clicked on the link after Larry’s name above, and found this though:

  • @Ben & Julie –

1- Scroll the front page of the blog completely to the bottom.
2- On the right side-bar there is as widget that says post categories
    3- Click on “select category”
4- Scroll to “Real Estate Photography 101” and select it.
5- After a second the front page will turn into a list of all the posts for that category

  • Justa heads up, whatever you did made the width of the site too large, it now has an annoying scroll bar (using Chrome). Looks like you made the Categories drop down box way too big.

  • @Chris- The width of the site is variable… any width you want. And, Yes, I’ve noticed the width of the category dropdown is wider than the side-bar width, but that is because the length of the longest category is wider than the side-bar width. I should shorten the length of the category names.

  • @Chris – I just changed the category drop-down to a simple list and I think it works and looks better because the long category names wrap into two lines.

  • @Larry,

Its better now but there is still a horizontal scroll bar there. There should never be a horizontal scroll bar on websites when they are clicked to maximize.

Something is pushing your site out wider then it should be, im guessing its “RealEstatePhotographyQandA”. It looks like it running right off the page into the blue area (in Chrome) .
