Here is what Zoltan had to say about his video:
I am so happy to be able to win the contest, very humbled by the acknowledgment!
This video was filmed for an auction company who is giving me 2-3 jobs a month. It took most of the day to film the house as it was just full of interesting and important details. The interiors were filmed with the
Panasonic GH5 with an Olympus 7-14mm f/2.8 lens; the slider shots, with a Panasonic 25mm f/1.7 and a Leica 12-60mm f/2.8-4. I used a Ronin-S gimbal and an Edelkrone motorized slider which was very useful for the double exposure shots in some rooms. The film is not without errors but thankfully, they did not hurt the video too much.
The interviews were filmed with a
Sony A7III and an A6500. The audio was recorded with a Rode NTG-3 mic to a Zoom H5 recorder. The audio isn't perfect either; the lack of drapery in the room does hurt the sound quality. The client originally provided me questions for the interviews but I encouraged the interviewees (the realtor and the owner) to rather wing it.
I think the best way for interviews is giving the subjects the questions days before so they can prepare a fluid speech while covering the bases. I do like voiceover in videos; it elevates the production value and keeps people's attention longer.
The drone was my good old and still reliable Phantom 4Pro.
What could be an interesting detail is that I filmed the neighborhood clips while riding on a Hoverboard which helped me to get smoother footage. I would prefer to use the Hoverboard for filming interiors also but in most high end places, I am concerned about hurting the floors.
Thank you again for the acknowledgment!
PFRE Videographer of the Month Winners:
The quality of that GH5 is nice. You did a great job on this video; I hope you were paid enough for all the time that took!
Why use the GH5 instead of the Sony A7iii ?
What did you use in post for grading?
Excellent work on this video!
The gratingly annoying music track undermines all of the positives about this video.
@Lee Miller Thank you Lee. Yes, thankfully the payment was fair, auction companies have a better budget than realtors as they are more likely to sell the property.
The reason I prefer to use the GH5 instead of the A7III is the 4K 60fps. For real estate the 4K is able to give me better quality even if we later downscale to HD (we usually deliver in 4K). And I do need the 60fps because even with a stabilizer my hand is not stable enough for real smooth footage and not every clip can be perfectly stabilized in post so slow motion is very helpful in most cases.
The editing was done in FCPX.
@Joe Zekas Thank you for your feedback. Could you please give me a couple of choices of music which could have worked better? I appreciate that in advance, thank you!
@Zoltan Over the years I've had feedback from many viewers who find any and all music tracks annoying. What would have worked better, IMO, is allowing viewers to hear the narrative clearly.
