Congratulations Matt Van Emmerik--October 2019 PFRE Photographer of the Month!

Congratulations to Matt Van Emmerik from Kelowna, BC--October 2019 Photographer of the Month! . This is Matt's third win in 2019! The theme this month was Elevated exterior shot - Aerial, pole or UAV and we had 21 entries from around the world. As always, a big thank you goes out to everyone who participated, and to the jury who continues to volunteer their valuable time and thoughtful insights.

  1. Matt Van Emmerik - #21
  2. Luke Phillips -#3
  3. Spencer A Trejo - #5

Please feel free to view and comment on any of this month's entries here.

Here's what Matt had to say about the win:

Right on! Awesome news! I Just read the comments on it and couldn’t agree more that the blue was over-cooked in the sky. This was me being lazy and applying a de-haze effect on a graduated filter in lightroom instead of making two separate filter effects to control how much the dehaze affected the blue of the sky.

I have photographed this home 4 different times over the past couple of years during winter and summer, both inside and outside. It originally went on the market before it was completed and actually just sold about two weeks ago. It’s a 10,000 square foot home that was built after the original log home burned down in a fire about 5 years ago. This photo was taken with my DJI Inspire 2 drone with the X5S camera and DJI 15mm lens. The post-work done was more than a bit more than normal as there was a basketball net smack dab in the middle of the frame at the edge of the driveway that just had to go. Normally for Real Estate, I wouldn’t do this but my client spares no expense when it comes to making the photo look it’s best regardless of cost. These are Realtor clients we all dream of having and because of him I got a great image for my portfolio.

I’m super honoured to pull a 3rd win in 2019 and want to thank Brandon and all the judges that take the time to post constructive comments on the images.
