LukePhillipsApr2015VideoCongratulations to Luke Phillips of London, UK for winning the April PFRE videographer of the month for April. His stunning video captured the attention of the video jurors. Here are the points awarded by the jurors:

  1. 102 pts, #10, Luke Phillips, London, UK
  2. 98 pts, #2, Dino Tassara, Lahaina, Maui
  3. 98 pts, #12, Wes Neil, Los Angeles, CA
  4. 96 pts, #9, Anders Carlson, Kailua Kona, Hawaii
  5. 89 pts, #11, Alasdair McIntosh, York, Yorshire, UK
  6. 82 pts, #3, Andre Francois Mckenzie, Toronto, Ontario
  7. 81 pts, #8, Jonas Haag, Southern Tasmania
  8. 79 pts, #4, Adam Wayland, Charlottesville, VA
  9. 73 pts, #1, Jeff Griggs, El Dorado Hills, California
  10. 69 pts, #6, Taylor Smith, Indialantic, Florida
  11. 65 pts, #5, Ryan Paschke, The Woodlands, Texas
  12. 61 pts. #7, Michael Sosnowski, Falmouth, Maine

Here are Luke's comments:

My win is very unexpected! The quality of the videos in the top 10 is always improving and provides great inspiration. This property definitely doesn't have the impact of some of the properties in Hawaii or LA that I have seen in the list. It did however have exquisite attention to detail and the designers made great use of the natural light, something that I always look to work with in a property. I have been entering the photo contest on and off for years but this was the first foray in to videos, which is why it was kept quite simple with no voice overs, drones or gimbal shots! Equipment used was mainly the PB slider, 5Dmk3 and a bunch of 2.8 lenses, with lots of manual pull focus. I also would like to credit Pedro Alves who was involved throughout the process.

Update 5/16: It's come to light that as is frequently the case with video there were more players than just Luke Philips involved in the making of this video. Pedro Alves was also involved in shooting this video. Both Luke and Pedro were doing the shoot for Dowling Jones Design of London.

  1. Wow! Great property video. I do a lot and see a lot of these. For me, this is at the top. Truely a fantastic marketing piece for this property. I look forward to using some of your technics in my next video. Well done Luke.
