Congratulations to Brian Berkowitz from New York; September 2019 Photographer of the Month! The theme this month was patio, deck, or garden space and I had 29 entries from around the world. As always, a big thank you goes out to everyone who participated, and to the jurors who continue to volunteer their valuable time and thoughtful insights.
Please feel free to view and comment on any of this month's entries here.
Here's what Brian had to say about the win:
I’m honored to be chosen for this month's contest. I have been following the contest for several years and only started submitting recently. When I looked out the window, I saw this composition and immediately ran out to capture it! I was actually shooting an event at this home so this is actually a single exposure handheld shot. It was shot with the Canon EOS R and the new 24-105mm RF lens.
Thanks to the judges who voted for me! By entering the contestant recently, it has forced me to “up my game” to try and win one of these.
'Single exposure handheld'...very cool! Great photo, Brian. Congratulations!
Congrats bud ... I'm very happy for you!!
Congrats Brian!!! Great job! I love that you shot this angle! I don’t think i would have... all to say that unless the landscape architect or architect or whoever was there telling me... i love the lines from this angle... that i would have even thought about it ... it’s awesome! and that’s what i’m trying to say ... love that you just found it and captured it so well... so simple ... great treatment and not overdoing it makes me happy ... even as an RE image it brings strength to the pools layout from the home as well as attention to the detail of the beautiful stone boarder ...
Congrats Brian, well done!
Congratulations Brian! Kudos for finding such a quiet, tranquil scene while shooting an event at this property. WTH weren't all the people hanging out here?!?!?!? So funny that the judges (me included) mentioned "moody", "lonesome" and "lacking cheer" (which were all positives to me and made your shot stand out, btw), meanwhile there's an event happening right behind you. Job well done! Remind me to buy you a congratulatory drink out in Vegas!
Thanks everyone! @michael, I’ll take a drink from you any day 😉
Congratulations, Brian! You deserve it, buddy. This shot is great.
Congrats! Great shot indeed.
Congrats, Brian!! Yes, indeed love the "moodiness" of the shot.
And thank you to Julie, Tony and Michael for the valuable feedback and to all the judges for taking time to do this every month! (I actually had to do homework to even find out what a "muskoka chair" was.... so the chair-war can live on... https://adirondackchairsexpert.com/adirondack-chair-vs-muskoka-chair-whats-the-difference-and-which-is-better/)
Many congrats Brian!
@Dana - It's an Adirondack chair right? I grew up in the ADK. I know. You know. Tony? Well.... 🙂
@Michael + @ Dana ... gentlemen, gentlemen, please!! The rounded yoke of the chairback CLEARLY makes the chairs in Dana's lovely photo, Muskoka chairs (as opposed to the flat yoke seen in the inferior Adirondack! ;-))
Congrats Dana, on strong top-3 finish in the contest!
Congrats to you Brian on taking September by storm! Great photo. I'm honored to be in the top 5. Here's to getting it done.
