I have narrowed down different SD card case options according to types of materials, number, and type of compartments to help you in your search for the best SD card case.

Finding a good SD card case is certainly a challenge. That’s why I’ve reviewed different options, from cases with clips that attach to your lanyard or your bag for easy access to cases that are shock-resistant and waterproof, to protect your cards anywhere you go.
Known for their sturdy cases ideal for fragile equipment, Pelican doesn’t disappoint with the Pelican 0915.
The exterior is made from sturdy polycarbonate material to ensure the unit can withstand accidental tosses and rough use. With its dense design, the material provides high shock absorption.
With a large capacity, The SD card case holds up to 12 SDs, six micro SDs, and six mini SDs. Its recessed design provides room for a large capacity with miniature size. Even though it doesn’t have the largest capacity on the list, the Pelican 0915 is better than other cases like the Kiwifotos SD Card Case.
You may see the front latch overly flexing over time, something that won’t happen with woven cases like the Eco-Fused. The two pressure points, given their exertion, may crack over time.
When doing a lot of filming, an SD case like the Kiorafoto 40 Slots Case might be your best option, given its expansive capacity.
It has the second largest capacity amongst the cases on review, accommodating up to 40 cards. It differs from the PROfezzion case by eight slots.
I like its non-restrictive nature in terms of how many SD cards or microSD cards it can house, unlike the Pelican 0915, which is limited to 12 SD and six micro SD cards. If you have more than twelve SD cards, this is a more convenient choice.
Despite its sturdy construction, the waterproof feature is not as secure as that of the Pelican 0915, therefore you should be more cautious around water.
The Eco-Fused SD Card Case is an affordable solution to carry your SD cards.
If you don't like plastic SD card cases, this woven material case is a nice alternative. Thanks to its exterior material, it’s a sturdy case that won’t scratch and with a relatively long lifespan.
You get 22 slots, only two less than my best pick, and at a fraction of the price. Eighteen of these slots can fit SD cards and micro SD cards. It also has four slots sized 43mm, suitable for compact flash cards.
My main issue is that it’s not waterproof, unlike cases like the Pelican 0915. It also requires long cleaning sessions because of the weaving, unlike solid cases that you can easily wipe clean.
After conducting a quick run-over test on the Kiorafoto SD Card Case, the case amazed me with just how firmly it matched up to the pressure. Apart from a few scratches incurred, the Kiorafoto SD Card Case made from polycarbonate resin is one of the sturdiest SD cases around.
In terms of size, the Kiorafoto SD card case almost matches the Pelican 0915. While each of them can hold up to 24 cards, the level of compatibility differs.
The Kiorafoto SD card case can accommodate 12 SD cards, similar to the Pelican 0915. It can also house 12 micro SD cards, which is six more than the Pelican 0915. Its main downside is the inability to accommodate mini SD cards, unlike my top pick.
While all options in my list are reliable, the Kiwifotos SD Card Case comes with an even sturdier build. The case features an aluminum alloy construction for immense resistance to pressure and scratching.
Two of its inserts permit you to save up to six SD cards at a time. One insert can accommodate 12 micro SD cards, while two are for compact flashcards. The case is also flexible, allowing you to pick the inserts that fit your storage demands.
Unfortunately, it can’t hold as many cards as the PROfezzion case. When you have to carry more than six SD cards to a shoot, the limited capacity means you must carry two or more cases.
When it is essential to store many pictures in a single location, the expansive PROfezzion 48 Slots Case is an incredibly affordable and excellent alternative. Given its 48 slots, it has the largest capacity on my list, and in a few cases, its size can achieve its functionality.
It comes with two inserts; each can store three SD cards. Two of the inserts can accommodate twelve three SD cards and three compact flashes,12 grooves are suitable for micro SD, and 12 can house nano sim cards.
Although different in the exterior design aspects, the material is similar to other SD card cases like the Pelican 0915. Like my best SD card case, you also get an external loop where you can attach a lanyard to enhance its security.
It is highly impact-resistant for optimal card security, better than the Eco-Fused SD Card Case.
The Think Tank 2325 SD case is an excellent choice when you need extra security for your SD cards.
Being a woven case, it looks elegant and scratch-resistant even after prolonged usage, unlike plastic cases like the PROfezzion Case. The material also makes it a very light case to carry around easily.
On the outside, it featured a velcro strap that ensures it attaches firmly while still being easy to open.
The Think Tank 2325 allows you to organize your SD cards conveniently. The zippers add an extra layer of security to your cards, ensuring you don't lose your data just after a lengthy session.
While relatively large, it can’t accommodate as many cards as the smaller Pelican 0915. It only holds 12 cards maximum.
SD cards are generally smaller-sized, though few can beat the compactness that the CamKix SD Card Case offers. What entices, even more, is its affordability while providing plenty of storage for its size.
You get three slots for SD cards and eight sections to place micro SD cards. My only complaint is the lack of storage for mini SD. That said, I appreciate the CamKix SD card case's 11 card capacity compared to the SMALLRIG Memory Card Case, which has only 7 slots.
Another reason I like this card case is the come-along micro SD card reader, something absent in the other options.
Tiny yet solid, the SMALLRIG Memory Card Case provides an efficient solution. It holds your memory cards while still looking classy and petite.
The Kiwifotos SD Card Case has an aluminum alloy exterior, though the two look nothing alike. The interior comes from ABS plastic with compartments that firmly encase your SD cards.
With the SMALLRIG SD Card Case, you can hold up to seven things simultaneously. There are three slots for your SD cards, two for micro SD, a sim cardholder, and a sim card removal tool.
When sliding in and out, it produces a slight screeching noise that is somewhat annoying. Its storage capacity is also the smallest on my list.
Unlike my other options, it has straps that you can secure to your keys or another convenient place. My last biggest concern is that’s not waterproof, unlike other options like the Pelican 0915.
The memory card is the primary storage device for your camera. If the memory card gets lost, damaged, or corrupted, you might lose all your photos and videos.
The features below help you choose an SD card case that can safely store your SD card when not in use. The table below breaks down the most important features to consider in the SD card case.

The number of slots in the SD card case determines how many SD cards the case can store. Although an SD card case with a higher number of slots might be preferable, keep in mind that the higher number of slots means a bigger overall size of the case.
You should therefore consider the number of slots you need depending on what you're shooting at the storage capacity of your SD cards. For instance, if you're shooting 4K videos and your memory cards are around 64GB, it means you will need a higher number of SD cards if the footage is long.
In such cases, you can go for a memory card case that can hold a large number of cards, such as the Kiorafoto 40 slot case.
In simple terms, sturdiness refers to the ability of the SD card case to withstand external physical pressure without breaking. Keeping in mind that the SD card case is meant to protect your memory cards, it should be able to withstand high pressure without breaking.
In most cases, the sturdiness of the SD card case depends on the construction material. Generally, an SD card case constructed of a metal alloy, such as the aluminum-constructed Smallrig memory card case, can withstand high pressure without breaking.
Although most memory cards have a weather-resistant design and can withstand extreme weather conditions without losing or corrupting data, there are still chances of data corruption. Exposing your memory card to extreme weather can also shorten its lifespan.
Also, you might be forced to clean the memory card before inserting it into the camera. For instance, you can damage the camera's memory card slot if you insert a wet memory card. When choosing an SD card case, you will want one that can withstand harsh conditions better than the memory card itself.
For instance, the Profezzion 48 slots SD card case is waterproof, and the memory cards will be safe even if you submerge it in water. Keep in mind that a weatherproof design doesn't mean the case can withstand all conditions, including fire.
This depends on the design of the case. However, even if the case allows water to enter, the SD card is capable of withstanding water for up to 72 hours as long as the water is not salty.
Generally, make sure that both the SD card case and the SD card are dry and clean before you store them.
