Congratulations Trace Tague, August2025 PFRE Photographer of the Month! The theme this month was "Daylight Exterior".
Here's what Trace has to say about the image:
"Wow, thanks for the nice surprise!
I’ve entered this contest almost every month since 2014. Not just trying to win but to get the comments from judges and spectators that really helped me improve. Where else can you get free expert advice from some of the best artists and craftsmen in our industry? “Distinguished Jury” indeed.
When I drove up to this house and saw all of the interesting facets I was thinking “portfolio shot”. The sun was in a good position so I made this my first photo. I felt like it needed a little elevation so I just put the tripod feet on my shoulder to get up to about ten feet. A three frame bracket with a ten second timer and stabilization on. Canon 6D Mark II, Canon 24-105 F4 at F8 and about 30mm, ISO 400.
The original photo had a clear blue sky, but I felt like it looked a little boring. So, I searched the old sky library for something that would make this scene look a little more “Santa Fe” to match the architecture. Yeah I know, there is a Saguaro cactus in the yard screaming southern Arizona…
Anyway, thanks for your votes and all of PFRE’s good work over the years. I hope I get a chance to see some of you down the road."
