The Art & Science of Great Composition: Tony Colangelo

Improving your compositions is the best and quickest way to take your photography to the next level. It is the most dominant factor in creating an image that delights our clients – even if they don’t know why they love the shot so much.

To improve your compositions, it’s important to understand why a great shot, actually is, a great shot. In over 2.5 hours, this tutorial does a deep-dive into the core principles and theories behind what actually makes a great composition. It also reviews the psychology and neuroscience that’s at play, when the viewer is deciding whether they like the shot.

Using the information and methods, I share in the video will allow you to consistently create images that will more deeply impact your clients – regardless of whether they’re real estate agents, interior designers or architects.

This Tutorial Will Help You To:

  • Understand why a client judges a photo positively (or negatively).
  • Apply an easy to follow, step-by-step approach that leverages this understanding, to get consistently strong compositions.
  • Achieve next-level results by leveraging nuanced composition tactics.
  • Distinguish yourself by delivering images that will likely look and feel better than those delivered by many of your competitors.
  • Know how to get “unstuck” when a composition doesn’t “feel right.”
  • Understand why lighting augments great composition.

"Fancy gear and new software will come and go. The principals of effective composition are timeless."

What Others Are Saying:

Tony Colangelo Testimonial

Michael Lefebvre, Barrington, RI … PFRE 2018 Photographer of the Year

I always felt like I had a decent eye for composition, but there was no rhyme or reason to what I was doing. I was operating 100% on gut feeling. After learning composition from Tony, I was able to develop a methodology that I use every time I step behind my camera. No more guessing or hoping that I’m on the right track. Now I know why certain compositions resonate with my clients and me and, because of that, I can make better decisions in how I compose a shot. I know that if you apply what you’ll learn from this video, your confidence in putting together great compositions will increase dramatically, just like it did for me!

Brandon Cooper, Fort McMurray Ab, Canada - PFRE Photographer of the Year 2016

We’ve never had a resource specifically on composition that is dedicated to our field of photography. With Tony’s tutorial, we now have a fantastic, in-depth resource that is dedicated only to composition. He explains the ‘why and how’ to find good compositions, as well as what to avoid. Tony’s methods, which he has taught to many coaching clients, have proven results. Tony has coached numerous clients that have become PFRE Photographer of the month winners and two recent PFRE Photographers of the Year. Whether you are just starting out on your journey in this field or have been shooting real estate for years, like me, I highly recommend this tutorial. I got a lot out of it and there is no doubt in my mind that applying the techniques that Tony teaches in this tutorial will take your images to the next level. Kerry Bern, Des Moines, IA - PFRE Photographer of the Month - January 2016

Tony’s video is an insightful and enlightening analysis of composition. It may be the best information I didn’t know I needed. I’ve frequently struggled with composition, nailing it occasionally… but not exactly understanding why. I am not a beginner, having shot real estate for 16 years. I wish I would have had it 16 years and thousands of houses ago. Since watching the tutorial, I now see “lines” running throughout the room that I didn’t see before, and it has changed how I see the room and set up the shot. I have been implementing the strategies for the last several shoots and am so happy with the improvements. After delivery of photos for a regular client/stager just yesterday, I received a text… “gorgeous photos.” I’ve shot for her at least 50 times and don’t remember her doing that before. Coincidence? The tutorial was worth many times the price paid!

Buy Tony’s course. Period. I’ve worked with Tony as a coach and improved my photography and business by a factor of 3X. This video spends a good deal of time on why my photos are now better, my clients are happier and I’m now shooting more architectural work at 10X the fee I used to get from listing agents. What I love is I can watch, and re-watch any time I need to refresh Tony’s compositional wisdom. I’ve re-read my notes from our coaching sessions, but it’s not the same as hearing and SEEING the concepts again. The video is an incredible value. Buy it today and start watching immediately. Investing in your composition skills will pay off for the rest of your career.
