Published: 11/09/2014
By: larry

ForSaleLong time PFRE reader Richard Lamb is being forced into retiring from his active photographic career due to a variant of MS. Richard wants to give folks in the PFRE community first chance at picking up some sweet gear at a fair price. All sales are final and buyer pays for any shipping and insurance as needed. Anyone interested in some or all of this gear contact Richard via his web contact page. Don't leave questions in comments on this post, contact Richard directly via the email or phone on his contact page. Here is the list of Richard's equipment that he wants to sell:

  1. Canon 1D Mark III RRS L-Bracket, 2 batteries and 2 Battery Chargers - $600.00
  2. Canon 5D Mark II with Battery Grip and RRS L-Bracket, 2 batteries and 2 battery chargers. Magic Lantern 2.3 installed. Canon Remote Camera Release, CamRanger Remote Camera Controller  3 - SanDisk Extreme Pro 16GB CF Cards, 3 - Lexar Professional 300x 8GB CF Cards, 2 - Lexar Professional 300x 4GB CF Cards  -  $2,000.00

  11. Canon 580EX II Speedlite Flash - $300.00
  12. 2- Canon 420EX Speedlite Flash - $150.00 SOLD

Richard says:

All of the above have been well cared for! No blemishes except for the 85mm which has a tiny nick in the rear lens element.

I will be shooting images of all of the above for posting on Craigslist. If you are interested in a specific item let me know and I can expedite the taking of said images for that item.

Anyway I wanted to give my fellow RE photographers a first stab at all this. These are all reasonable prices based on what I found on eBay.

  1. OK, so I bet a lot of folks are pondering "why sell"? That's a reasonable question. I've been battling a baffling and disabling illness for years. After a trip to the Mayo Clinic I have been diagnosed with a variant of Multiple Sclerosis. Yeah that's a bummer. My mobility as I knew it is gone. Even worse is the brain fog.

I of course am on forced retirement. I've thoroughly enjoyed working as an RE photographer and this website and it's members have been a huge help in my success! I thank you all for your help along the way!

A specific shout out to Larry Lohrman and Scott Hargis! Each of you directly helped me to elevate my RE images far beyond what I could have done on my own! Thank you!

But fear not folks! I'm not done shooting! Some of the funds from this sale will go towards buying an Olympus OMD EM-1 and some sweet primes. I am looking forward to returning to shooting for me again with a vastly lighter kit!

Life takes unusual turns. You define yourself by how well you adapt. RE photography was an adaption to an unexpected turn. I am at another turn right now. I'm looking forward, not back.

  2. Hi Richard,

Just a word to say I'm truly sorry to hear about your condition. As I also get older, I started shooting with my new Fuji X-1 Pro and super wide zoom lens. it is sharper than my Nikons and almost half the weight. I think the Mirror less cameras will become the standard in our business.

I wish you all the luck in the world and hope for a speedy cure and recovery.

Kindest regards to a fellow photographer

    Eric M Hilton

  3. Richard,
Brad and I were so sorry to hear about your illness and will say prayers for you to be as symptom free as possible and of course the cure with research. I encourage everyone who subscribes to PFRE to donate to the so that a cure to this terrible debilitating illness can be discovered.
Richard - if you love photography, I suggest you take some of the money from your real estate equipment sale and buy one of the newest mirror less cameras and have a great hobby life when you are up to it.
    Best regards,
    Suzanne and Brad

  4. Richard,
I wish you the absolute best in the future and will be praying for you on a regular basis. Enjoy shooting without a boss!
