Recommended Real Estate Photography Gear

This is a condensed guide for choosing gear you need to get started in real estate photography.

Key Gear Factors In Real Estate Photography

  1. A quality wide-angle lens: The most important gear for a real estate photographer. You need a lens that has an EFFECTIVE focal length of between 17 mm and 24 mm to shoot interiors.
  2. Manual flashes: These are not essential if you shoot brackets but are very useful when you learn to use them. Best choice is: YN560 IV
  3. Triggering manual flashes: This trigger works for Nikon, Canon, and Sony: YN560-TX
  4. A sturdy tripod: Almost any sturdy tripod will do here is an example: Manfrotto Compact Tripod

Below are the most common brands of cameras and lenses used in real estate photography. The emphasis in this list is to give a number of alternatives. This is not to say these are the only options. Don’t hesitate to buy used gear. For a more detailed list of wide angle lenses that are appropriate for real estate see the lenses page.
