One Of Our Own - Tyra Pacheco Was In A Helicopter Crash Today And Is In Critical Condition

TyraPachecoOur thoughts and prayers go out to Tyra Pacheco who was in a helicopter crash today while shooting real estate near Chatham, MA. Tyra is at Massachusetts General Hospital (55 Fruit St, Boston, MA 02114) in Boston with critical injuries. Here is the link to the CBS local coverage about the crash.

Tyra was the very first PFRE photographer of the month winner in July 2008 and is a PFRE contest juror.

I just sent flowers to Tyra at Massachusetts General with the following message (taken from Ethan's first comment below): "Tyra, Our positive thoughts, and prayers go out to you tonight for a speedy recovery and full healing. We love you and cherish you! Love and Aloha,  your PFRE family"

Thanks to Ethan Tweedie who told me about the accident.

Update 6/18: That Dan Milstein has verified this site with Tyra's family: gofundme.com/tyrapacheco so it is safe to use it to donate to Tyra.

Update 6/23: Note the update from the local news that Dave posted below.

  1. Tyra, Out positive thoughts and prayers go out to you tonight for a speedy recovery and full healing, we love you and cherish you and you are a part of your PFRE family.

    Love and Aloha,

    Ethan

  2. Tyra, I've learned every time you set foot into a helicopter, it shows your dedication to your clients and your craft, which you personally have achieved beautifully!
My wife and I are sending you our prayers, thoughts and sunshine from your PFRE family here in FL, and wishing you a speedy and full recovery.

  3. I just saw this on the local news. In shock : ( So scary she flys all the time around the cape and the islands. I can't imagine. Sending all our prayers to you Tyra.

  4. Tyra, praying for a complete and speedy recovery.
Thank you Larry for sending flowers and notes of encouragement on behalf of the PFRE family!
    Best Regards,
    Ron

  5. I have been in contact with one of Tyra's kids since yesterday, and will update Larry if and when there's anything to share. Tyra is in rough shape right now, but hanging in there while the medical staff works on her.

  6. Thank you for the link Daniel! Thanks Ethan and thank you Larry as always for bringing us together. I have been very fortunate over the years to attend several workshops and have met some truly amazing, thoughtful and giving people through this blog/network.

I am sure Tyra loved it up in the helicopter, I sure did. Up until 3 years ago, I would go up in helicopters and shoot real estate but sadly, my friend and pilot, along with 4 others were not so lucky in a R-66 helicopter crash in Pennsylvania. May all those who continue to shoot from helicopters and planes, fly safe.

  7. I live in Tyra's area and I'm a huge fan of her work. When I saw the news flash on the accident, I knew immediately who she was. My thoughts and prayers go out to her and her family for sure. God Bless

  8. Though I wasn't familiar with Tyra's work until visiting her web site yesterday, I can identify with her on so many levels. I remember many years of band fundraisers and events with my three children, too.

Tyra, your work is beautiful and dedication to your craft and clients is impressive. As Franz said above, you have many more images to capture. Wishing you the very best for strength and speedy healing!

  9. Joe and I expect to have lunch with you again when in the Cape Cod area again! I'm praying every day for a fast and complete recovery - and a little photography mentoring like we discussed! Be strong, be tenacious and little-by-little each day will be a bit better. Take care and heal-
