  1. Good video, but I'd add a couple of points. Trendspotting in photography is important. Even though you won't be doing the same thing 10 years from now, Riding the Wave for that 10 years is extremely profitable. There will be 5 years of industry growth on a wave, and then 5 years of decay, but you can come out pretty good if you exploit that. And there are exceptions. There is always an exception for stunning impeccable photography free of gimmicks. People with that skill set can ride the tsunami.

    Secondly, as far as attention span goes, and duration of the wave, if you live in a major metropolitan area, that stuff will be in your face way more then if you live somewhere between Detroit and Aspen. The center of the country doesn't change as fast, and most of them still, after 40 years, watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and the 5 o'clock news every single night... But when it does die, it ka-chunks like a brick on damp clay.

  2. It's nice to hear how it is. Our business model in particular is changing and although we have some control, it becomes less everyday. I have seen discussions on 360's, video, 360 video etc and personally I love reading how my competition think they archaic, blurry, or any other excuse for not learning how to do them. All the more business for me. Social Media, how many of us actually exploit (yes, EXPLOIT) it? I milk it for all it's worth.

    John Travolta, this young kiddie star, remember Welcome Back Kotter? saw the light. He invested a large portion of his earnings in a publicist. We are talking about a teenage heart throb, not an established actor. It paid off, the rest of the cast, who/where/are they??

    Northrop's job is to sell Northrup and he does a good job of it. I tell my realtors my job is to sell them, theirs is to sell the house, WRONG!!!! my job is to sell me and I can best do that by providing my clients the tools to get more work.

    Now, the future. Everyone out here bitches about Zillow, hell, I'm think of buying Zillow stock. You can feel anyway you want about them but if you aren't using them to increase business, if your too good for that, or to stupid to know how then you probably won't be around to hear next years rant. Everyone complained about how bad the cell phone footage was for the Zillow walk through s. I thought it was horrid as well. Zillow even gave me a stabilizer for my phone, it tilted to the right 🙂 What did I end up with, crappy cell phone, un edited footage. What did I do, complain and say how it would hurt my reputation? No, I found the back door to Zillows video uploads and started with gopro's and stabilizers, edited to length and uploaded them. Now I use Sony a6300's, stabilizers and Zillow uploads them for me. I have even used drone footage.

    What's this about, it's about moving on, looking for the opportunities and pushing the rules aside. Sometimes it's a failure, sometimes it's a reward. But bottom line if I just sit and do the same thing I won't last.

    Did you know that there is a product coming to compete with Matterport? Probably not because you don't really want to do anything different then you already are.

  3. Agree with the video. If you are going to be successful in this business of RE, than you better have this at the top of your business plan... "Change is inevitable and we will be open to it".

    It struck me as funny when he was talking about attention span and how it is now no longer than around 5 minutes.....then his video goes on for 10 and half minutes.
