Meet The New PFRE Idol: Linda Mandy

Published: 01/11/2008
By: larry

The voting results are in and the new PFRE Idol contest winner for this month is Linda Mandy, of Forest Lake, Queensland, Australia. I love Linda's winning photo above. This kind of interior shot done at twilight with distant views is one of my favorite kinds of shots. Congratulations Linda! To see more shots of this property see Linda's flickr stream.

Linda says:

I joined the Open2view Real Estate photography franchise when I purchased the Forest Lake/Centenary territory in Brisbane. One of the most important aspects of our business for us is the relationship with our agents as we rely on them to sell our photography services to the vendors. Each property is as important to us as it is to our clients, and we go the extra mile to ensure the shoot is just right. Our area contains more “middle of the road” properties in fact the highest price property in my territory would be no more than 2 million dollars and these would be less than 1% of the market. I was very excited to photograph the home in my submission as it was a last minute booking on a Friday evening to back up another Open2view photographer’s client on the Gold Coast in the exclusive “Sovereign Islands” Estate. I traveled over an hours drive and ending up arriving late due to traffic. Luckily the home was immaculate and with beautiful features and the evening twilight was just beautiful. The image was shot on my Canon 40D, Canon EFS Wide Angle EFS 10 – 22mm lens. The settings were 200 iso, aperture 5.6 at 1.3secs. Raw format. Custom WB

Under our Digital Realism Company my husband Darin also is a photographer. His passion is motorsport photography and he is a Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS – FIA) accredited photographer. Darin uses the Canon 5D Mk1 with a 100-400mm USM lens. Our company also does other photography from time to time but my core business is real estate photography, floor plans, 360 degree Virtual Tours and Elevated photography with a 20 Metre Telescopic Pole attached to my vehicle. This keeps me more than busy enough. Larry I do have to confess I felt the need to enter and prove a point after recent discussions on the Flickr forums (titled Are cheap photographers holding us back among others thread) regarding Open2view photographers and the business model we represent. Not that we are cheap but since the incepti0n of Open2View nearly four years ago to the Australian market we have created great in roads to changing the way agents and vendors market property and highlighting the importance of great looking images when marketing a property of any value. The post from Tlpacheco summed it all up for me to Building a relationship that includes respect, trust, and even friendship is what makes consumers continue paying more for a haircut or an oil change they can get down the street without an appointment. They are paying for the level of service” Relationship building and networking with your clients is the number one key to building a successful real estate photography business or and of course great photography skills.

I wanted to thank you and everyone who voted for me and it gives me great pleasure in being able to say I’m the Nov 2008 PFRE Idol winner.
