Back in March when I first tried out Luminar by Macphun and did a post on how impressed I was with it, I missed one of the most important aspects of Luminar. I've now been enlightened by Scott Kelby's post on LightroomKillertips and his new class on Kelbyone.com on how to use the Luminar plugin for Lightroom and Photoshop.
Kelby claims that many of the developers of Luminar came from the group that built the Nik collection. This is why there is a similarity in the user interface and the filter effects between Luminar and Nik Color Efex. In this post on LightroomKillertips.com, Scott compares the effects in Nik and Luminar.
So for those of you long time Nik users that are mourning the death of the Nik Collection, you may want to take a look at Luminar. It doesn't completely replace Nik but it goes a long way in that direction.
