I had a different post scheduled for today but I just discovered Guy Kawasaki's new book Enchantment: The Art of Changing Hearts, Minds, and Actions. So I am anxious to pass it on to everyone. I don't read books any more. I'm in the process of listening to Enchantment in audio book form. The theme of the book is, "The process of creating a deep, delightful, mutually-beneficial and voluntary relationship with customers is called enchanting them".
Where I ran across a reference to the book is on a post Guy wrote a post called "How to Use Facebook to Enchant Your Customers" which promotes his book and translates the concepts in Enchantment into using Facebook. This post has been one of the top blog posts on the net in the past few days. The post talks about how to Enchant customers via your Facebook page but the concepts have far more general application than just Facebook. It focuses on how to establish a relationship with your customers in general in any business context. Guy's book feels to me like Dale Carnegie's business classic How To Win Friends and Influence People translated into twenty-first century usage.
For those of you that don't know who Guy Kawasaki is, he's the original Apple Developer Evangelist. Guy joined Apple in the early 1980's and was responsible for promoting Apple to developers. Since that time Guy has been involved in a bunch of Silicon Valley startups and is a best selling Business Guru.
I think this book is essential reading for anyone in business today. It's great stuff!
