Guest Blog: Featuring Allan MacKenzie

Allan and Lisa MacKenzie are Area Franchisers for South Brisbane, AU. Allan has completed video training at the Queensland School of Film & Television. Allan and Lisa are introducing video to their agents. After seeing Allan's videos that he posted to the PFRE flickr group I asked Allan to do a guest post on his videos and he accepted. Here are three of Allan's videos:

  1. Agent Property Video 1
  2. Agent Property Video 2
  3. Auction Promo

The whole world is moving fast including digital media.

After completing video training at the Queensland School of Film & Television, I identified the need to introduce real estate video in addition to photography as part of the whole Real Estate marketing package.

I believe professional photography will always be the backbone of Real Estate marketing but video is fast becoming a nice add on or point of difference.

There are a couple of things I have found to be beneficial with real estate video;

  1. Firstly it is an effective way to communicate the lifestyle benefits and the location surroundings to potential interstate or overseas buyers.
  2. Secondly, in addition to profiling the listing it is also effective in profiling the listing agent and creating their awareness in the public domain.

Packaging professional real estate photography and video I believe makes for a very powerful marketing tool for the listing real estate agent.

I record in HD or HDV using Sony Camcorders such as the Z1, I would also recommend the EX1 or 2. I edit on PC using Premiere Pro CS4 or if I was a MAC user you couldn’t go past Final Cut Pro (FCP )very intuitive program.

At the end of the day both are very good editing systems, what you use, is really what you have grew up with.

For high definition we size to 1280 x 720 and choose codec H.264, I find this will give you the best result for web.

Most of our packages run for 90 secs and where possible we have the agent script and market the listing on video. We also offer other packages such as auction promotional videos.
