Essential Guide to: Lighting Interiors Is Now Available

We have a go for launch! Scott Hargis's new eBook The Essential Guide to: Lighting Interiors, Techniques for lighting with small flash is now available in the PFRE Store or just click here to go straight to the landing page where this eBook is for sale. Or click on the Ad at the top of the left side-bar.

Scott and I are both proud of this ebook! I am convinced this is the best book available on using small flash for lighting interiors. Other lighting books are pretty general when it comes to dealing with small flash lighting. On the other hand Scott focuses only on how to light interiors for 108 pages. This is a real estate photographers dream. It's the next best thing to going to one of Scott's lighting workshops

We've asked some long time contributors to the PFRE flickr group to review the the eBook for us and here's the feedback that we are getting so far:

Dan Achatz Photography - Seattle, WA

"When I buy a how to book, I'm expecting payback in new skills and new clients. Scott Hargis' book, "The Essential Guide to: Lighting Interiors" is the best interior lighting book I've seen. Scott walks us through each room of a home in his easy to understand style, and at the end we come away better photographers. It's a must read for all real estate photographers with a sure payback."

Daniel Milstein - Daniel Milstein Photography  - New York, NY

"Whether you are an experienced real estate marketing photographer, or a former newspaper shooter looking to branch out, Scott Hargis’ “The Essential Guide to: Lighting Interiors” is a worthy addition to your virtual bookshelf.  In just over 100 info-packed pages, Hargis provides a level of knowledge that would otherwise come only from years of shooting.  Intuitively organized, the guide successfully combines diagrams, photo examples, and easy-to-follow text with a light humor that makes it an easy read. This guide will prove a wonderful resource for every real estate photographer struggling with the mysteries of strobe lighting.”Scott's Book will be the magic bullet for so many real estate photographers. It is written in an easy to digest manner and reading it was insightful and informative. Anyone serious about mastering the needed techniques of lighting and composition for real estate photography will be astounded at the wealth of information that Scott has packed into one book. The Illustrations and explanatory photographs fill in all the gaps to make this the complete reference manual.

  1. Awesome!! You just made my weekend with this news. My wife on the other hand may curse you.

  2. Just got it and ready to read over the weekend! I have been waiting for this since I saw it. I am sure it'll improve my skills a lot!

  3. @ Scott, Thank you: I am one who has attended one of your live classes, awesome learning tool too. But your new book is over the top !! Great Job !! Packed with a lot of useful reminders and examples even an old seasoned dude like myself can relate too and learn a new method.

Thanks for making this available, it will be on my personal blog post tonight, this is a book everyone in RE Photo field should read, print a copy take with them and practice in the field shooting test images just like you demo.

  4. Just read the book from cover to cover. It will be the Lighting RE photography bible. I learnt a huge amount from the workshop. After reading the book I hadn't realized how much I forgotten. Now with the book and the technical reminders this should save me hours in the field and Post. The last paragraph says it all. Great Job Scott and the team. Also Scott, congratulation on being a published author

  5. Thanks for putting all the time in to this valuable resource Scott.
Just what I needed before being bamboozled in the Melbourne workshop!! 🙂 It is now "fill-in" reading on my iPad whilst I am waiting for the next shoot.
And thanks to your plugs on the SB 80DX's, they have gone from $140-160 at KEH up to $199. At least the Aussie dollars helps out!

  6. Wow, I just devoured that e-book! Thanks a lot for publishing this material - it's my new gospel and I know that some of the techniques and considerations that are brought up will make me a better photographer, without any doubt. Reading this made me realize that I need a little more equipment too, but I bet all the used sb-80s are going for 50% more than they were a few days ago, before this book was out.

Next time, please tell me so I can buy my used gear before you publish - much appreciated.

    Dan
