Barbara Corcoran: Wage War Online With Professional Photography

Published: 22/02/2011
By: larry

Barbara Corcoran is a mega-agent and one of the most quoted people in real estate according to New York Magazine.

In a recent interview on the Today Show Barbara concisely summarizes the importance of "Waging War Online" by hiring a professional photographer if you possibly can! Her statements on professional photography are at 2:14 into this video.

This is the kind of video you want to use on your web site or in your marketing. It's one thing for you to tell your potential clients that professional photography is important for selling property, but it's carries much more weight coming from a super successful agent like Barbara. I found this YouTube version which is much better for embedding on you site than the version that Barbara has on her site.

Thanks to Michael Yearout and Kerrick Long for finding this interview. Michael saw the live broadcast and told me about it several weeks ago and Kerrick noticed today that Barbara finally had a web video of the interview online.

  1. Generally she does... but she can be a loose cannon.

The other day a seller called and wanted to know how to take care of a neighbor with junked cars and trash on his property. Her response: "Get a gun and kill the guy".

You can imagine Al Roker trying to cover for that one! (it was fun to watch him squirm a bit!)

  2. From a 2005 Business Week interview with Barbara Corcoran: "Of course there's no bubble. I think we're just getting started....There are so many more buyers than there are homes to sell. Bidding and overbidding are the norm of the day. So it's going to take a lot to slow this market. Even if it does -- which I don't see the signs of -- it will still slow down slowly. That's not what a bubble does." Still, that is economics, in which she appears to have no expertise. It would seem that she does have some expertise when it comes to selling real estate.

Since she is now in the business of promoting herself as a writer, speaker and pundit, outrageous comments such as the one about shooting the neighbor may be useful for that venture. Boy, Roker did not seem to happy with that statement.

  3. Yeah she can sell Real Estate - for sure. But like anyone who publicly attempts to predict markets and trends it can be embarrassing later on. 512K will be all anyone will ever need - I still love that one, coming from one of arguably the most brilliant minds of the 20th century it is amazing how difficult it can be to see into the future.
