Another Success Story That Grew Out Of Real Estate Photography

Published: 22/06/2011
By: larry

I want to pass on another success story. Allan Mackenzie who is very active on the PFRE Video for Real Estate flickr group posted this video that he did recently. Allan's recent post in the PFRE flickr group explains the whole back story on this video.

While this video is not a property video, the main point of this story, is that real estate photography and video can be a launching pad into other more lucrative photographic and cinematic endeavorers.

In response to my post asking about how real estate photographers are doing Allan told me he and his team in South Brisbane have shot 10,390 properties since March of 2008. Makes me tired just thinking about it! So I think Allan would agree that building and polishing his photographic and video skills by photographing homes and shooting property videos has played a large part in helping him make the jump to filming other commercial ads.

This reminds me of the 10,000 hour principle that Malcolm Gladwell presents in his book, Outliers: The Story of Success. Gladwell asserts that the key to success in any field is, to a large extent, a matter of practicing a specific task for a total of around 10,000 hours.

  1. Good to see the different kinds of opportunities that can lead from producing real estate videos.

I'd imagine all sorts of opportunities are going to evolve over the next few years.
