After years of dreaming and months of planning, the PFRE Conference is now a reality! I have the great pleasure of formally inviting you to help us make history by attending the inaugural PFRE Conference in Las Vegas, NV on Nov. 20-21, 2019.
I can't tell you how excited I am to finally make this announcement! Like so many of us in this field, much of my growth as a photographer came from the resources at PFRE. When I proudly took over PFRE from founder and creator, Larry Lohrman in early-2018, one of my commitments was to provide the best possible education for real estate and interiors photographers, while fostering a community of like-minded professionals from around the world.
In my heart, as part of that goal, I’ve always wanted to host a PFRE conference, to give our community a chance to come together in-person, on a regular basis, to learn, share stories and best practices, make connections, and prosper. I envisioned an opportunity that brought together many of the leading names in our field to speak on topics that would benefit us all and to do so in a comfortable, relaxed environment that was fun, easy to get to, and affordable--a place where we could all forge new relationships and solidify existing ones.
Here are the details:
Dates: November 20-21, 2019
South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa, Las Vegas, Nevada.
With some of the largest hotel rooms in Las Vegas, a full-service spa, eleven restaurants, countless bars, bowling alley, movie theater, arcade, and business center, just minutes from the airport, and a $10 Uber ride from the strip, this outstanding venue offers everything needed for the full Las Vegas experience.
When I initially shared my desire to hold a conference and asked for your input, you made it very clear that cost was going to be a deciding factor for you. I committed to keeping costs down and I'm confident that I've been able to do this without sacrificing the quality of the experience.
Here are the admission fees:
• Early-Bird ($ 449.00); General Admission ($ 599.00). REGISTER NOW.
• Negotiated Room Rate $55.00 per night ($76.00 after resort fees and taxes). This rate also includes free valet parking for those of you who will be driving in from out of town. While planning this event, I travelled to Las Vegas twice, and the cheapest room I could find was almost three times this rate, so South Point really stepped up in terms of offering us a volume discount. I've personally stayed at South Point and think it's a great place... I'd gladly take my family there anytime!
Click here to book your room, or call South Point at 1-866-791-7626 and use booking reference "PFRE Conference"
• Free airport shuttle (must be booked through the hotel)
• $8-$12 Uber ride from the airport
We will be joined by some of the biggest names in our field to make presentations and to sit on panels so that everyone can have the opportunity to ask questions and soak it all in. We will also have vendor involvement; details on this will be announced at a later date.
*Any vendors interested in sponsorship opportunities are asked to reach out to Brandon via the green "Contact Brandon" button at the top right corner of the PFRE homepage.
Our featured guest speakers are:
Mike Kelley is a Los Angeles based architectural photographer who travels the globe on assignment. He is widely credited with originating the "light painting" technique that is now used by real estate and interior photographers around the world. Mike's three-part video tutorial collaboration with Fstoppers "Where Art Meets Architecture" has become the top-selling Fstoppers tutorial of all time and serves as a foundation for new and veteran shooters alike. In addition to being one of the most recognizable figures in architectural photography, Mike has also earned international acclaim with his personal project "Airportraits."
In 2018, Mike founded the Architectural Photography Almanac, an online resource for architecture photographers and those in the architecture industry seeking to learn about the craft and theory of architectural photography.
Scott Hargis is a widely recognized architectural photographer based in Oakland, California.
He creates artistic photographs that communicate more than just basic information about a room or structure. His compositions strive to reveal the original intent of the designer, interpreting their work into a two-dimensional image that accurately conveys the feeling of being in the space itself. In an age when many photographers assemble images using extensive digital manipulation, he still prefers traditional field techniques and close attention to detail to capture photographs that feel honest and alive, carry the integrity of the moment, and which require minimal retouching.
Scott travels extensively on assignment for clients in multiple disciplines including architecture, design, construction, and advertising. Scott’s photographs have appeared in numerous books and magazines including This Old House, Interior Design Magazine, Oakland Magazine, San Francisco Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, Women's Day Magazine, and multiple titles from Taunton Press and others.
Scott is also the author of the "The Essential Guide to Lighting Interiors" e-book that is considered by many as the "bible" of interior lighting.
Tony Roslund is a third-generation photographer specializing in commercial architecture imagery. He is a nationally recognized member of the American Society of Media Photographers and the Association of Independent Architectural Photographers.
Tony's wealth of knowledge and exceptional teaching ability has made him an icon in the architecture photography community. In addition to creating multiple video tutorials with PRO EDU, Tony instructs annual workshops and is the co-host of The Pixel Punishers podcast.
His name is Barry. He's never been bucked off a bronco, climbed Mount Everest, been in a backroom bar fight, or crushed cars with a monster truck (maybe in another life).
In this life, however, he did marry his high school sweetheart. He's a post-processing beast; wishes he could eat pizza every day; and creates clean, crisp, world-class images for high-end clients around the globe.
Barry was the 2014 PFRE Photographer of the Year and co-hosts annual workshops as well as the Pixel Punishers podcast with his partner in crime, Tony Roslund. He also has a real estate photography tutorial available through PRO EDU.
Tony Colangelo is a successful photographer whose images have been featured in numerous magazines and feature articles. Many in our community know Tony as a long-time contributor to the PFRE blog, writing numerous articles for the site, offering his critical input on the PFRE Flickr group, and especially in his role as a juror in PFRE's Photographer of the Month contest, where his detailed critiques have become a staple of the contest.
He is the creator of a popular video tutorial, The Art & Science of Great Composition, and is a highly sought after photography coach, who combines his approach to photography with a long history of professional coaching/consulting, augmented by many years' experience as a senior business executive.
Tony is an expert facilitator and educator, having delivered countless workshops and seminars to thousands of people across Canada and the US over the past 29 years.
