Here are Zoltan's comments about his winning video:

This is a great honor; thank you very much for bringing this wonderful news!

This project was something different than what I usually do since the regular real estate client does not want to spend too much money on the videos--at least that's what I have experienced. The idea actually came from my client who is always interested in bringing something extra to a shoot; exotic cars, boats, yachts, or sometimes models. This also means that I do not have to worry about these props. All I do before the shoot is a quick brainstorming over the phone and I get to see the property only on the day of the shoot. The Porsche in the video was the client's car, and the dog was his as well. He just got the puppy and was (and still is) super excited about him and wanted him to be in the video. He had three of his colleagues with him who were calling the puppy from place to place for the takes.

As for my gear, I used a Panasonic GH5 for video; mainly because this is the only small format camera that can do 4K/60fps which was very useful for slowing down the footage in this video. I used a Ronin-S stabilizer and an Edelkrone motorized slider for the takes where I had to cut the windows out for proper window pull. Yes, I cut out the windows one by one when necessary to show the view and for that, I need a motorized slider so the takes are identical.  My drones are Phantom4Pros. I prefer them for the compact size, affordability, and fantastic image quality.

These days, more and more clients are interested in bringing extra elements into the videos but unfortunately, they are not willing to pay more than what they pay for regular videos. I film them anyway because, although the shooting and editing takes much longer, the creative process is exciting and the final product provides great marketing material for my company.

  1. Fantastic work Zoltan and congratulations - a worthy winner! So impressed with the quality of the gimbal work. Really flat and even moves. How do you avoid bounce when walking with a handheld gimbal? Overhead support system? Stabilise in post? Super small steps? Also kudos to using a motorised slider on different exposures and then cutting out the windows. A new solution for me to the common problem of blown windows. Awesome work!

Thank you for your comment! The gimbal work is often further stabilized in post but we always try to walk as slow and as steady as possible. Even though this video was filmed using a Ronin-S, it was used with an added crossbar for two handed operation. It also helps that the GH5 has a great in body image stabilizer and the lens also.

  3. Amazing work. It's been a while since I have seen a video that inspires me.....and that's exactly what you did. I'm now going to get a Ronin S stabilizer. Thank you for re-lighting a fire in me. The music....all the different shots and cuts....the overall feel was simply awesome.
