Lumenzia: A Luminosity Masking Panel for Photoshop

August 29th, 2018

In the most recent episode of Shooting Spaces Podcast, Rich and Brian interviewed Greg Benz who is the developer of Lumenzia, which is an extension for Photoshop that allows you to:

  1. Select and mask anything visually
  2. Creates masks automatically
  3. Simplifies exposure blending
  4. Keeps files smaller by not using channels
  5. Creates vignettes with ease

I think Lumenzia has the potential to be very useful in real estate photography post-processing for those who use or would like to start using exposure blending. Lumenzia is $39.99 and for $79, Greg does an extensive video class in Lumenzia.

  • Sounds interesting/promising but the demo video has nothing to do with real estate, and the podcast has no visuals so I’m kinda scratching my head?
Are there any links to examples using Lumenzia in real estate? Interiors, exteriors, using masks and fixing casts, window pulls, etc.

  • It is a good collection of the main buttons in PS, but useless for everyone who uses shortkeys for his workflow.

I´m thinking about that “eye” button to isolate single layers without masks, blending etc.
What is the usual way to do that?

PS: that Website (required) field is not up to date. I´m using one of those new domains (.berlin) and it is not working.

  • I have been using Lumenzia for over two years now. It is definitely worth the price for creating selections and masks. Greg is constantly updating it and provides the updates for free. I don’t use it every day but when I do use it it’s indispensable.

@ Aric, suggest you go to YouTube and subscribe to Greg’s channel. Here’s one video where he is using Lumenzia for blending an interior image: https://youtu.be/FHw5QQW5fpo He also has quite a few tutorials on using Lumenzia.

  • I purchased this when it first came out and have all the updates. But I’ve had a dickens of a time figuring out how it works despite the instruction by Greg. I can select the right mask and apply a levels or curve adj but the other things he has in there are just a bit confusing (this coming from a 20-yr PS user). Would love to see a real estate specific tutorial.

  • I’m a big fan of adpproV3. Luminosity masks, color masks, super easy mask adjustments, and a ton of other stuff. Comes with an excellent set of video tutorials. $42.95 at adppro.com.

  • Lumenzia is a useful tool but has a steep-ish learning curve.
As with so many tools that promise near magical selection abilities it tends to over promise.
While one can make subtle selections, a lot of work is required for many images that only proves that quality masking takes time and care.

  • I own Lumenzia and have tried to spend time learning it over the last year or so, but there are no tutorials specific to RE that I could find that are helpful. Would love someone to make a nice overview video for it, followed by an in-depth specific to real estate. I am sure people would pay for it 😉

  • Does anybody use ADP Pro v3 Luminosity Masks Panel when processing there Real Estate photos? If so, what do you think of it compared to the similar software? I currently using HDR software (HDR Expose 3 for my interior photos and Photomatix Pro for my outside photos) to process my Real Estate photo.
