Real Estate/Interior Photography Learning… Help Us Help You!

2018 is well under way, and we all have our own real estate/interior photography goals. If you’re anything like me, you’ve spent countless hours scouring the web for every lesson, tutorial, tip, and trick you can find. I’m sure you’ve also realized there isn’t much information out there specific to Real Estate/interiors photography (compared to other genres like portrait or wedding).

Our mission at PFRE is to “Help make real estate/interior photographers successful” so in that spirit, we’d like to know what educational information you’re looking for? Tell us what you need and we’ll do what we can to help!

  • Would always like the licensing question explored especially in regards to rates. Market will dictate what a standard real estate shoot willl go for, but commercial licensing rates seem to be all over the place. Is there a standard or multiple standards to use when considering a project? What are they? Etc.

  • Very interested in how to market myself as a real estate photographer. How do I truly SELL to agents? Many these days simply are opting for photos only but the single property site or virtual tour is my “bread & butter”. How can I continue to scale my business? I feel I’ve hit a plateau in the last year and want to kick that pattern.

  • Rich King, some like myself might do a standard per-hour rate for commercial work with a minimum of one hour, then add licensing on top of it or roll it in to the per-hour rate.

  • At the end of 2017 I raised by prices to cover the expense of 1.50 an image to be professionally edit by beepec.com in Hanoi. I now take 6 raw brackets and 1 raw flash and send them via Googledrive and get them back by 6 AM. For the first time in 18 years I know every image I take at my next appointment is going to be perfect. That is a bold statement but a true one. It has removed the stress and I have so much free time now to actually have a life away from editing images. More agents have taken notice and I have added business by many new clients. It may not be for you but it is for me. Window views, dark days, cavernous rooms, bright lights, and anything else we face as a problem has been solved for me.

  • I would be interested in more on the use of drones for real estate. Thanks
