Congratulations Brian Doherty – April PFRE Photographer of the Month

Congratulations to Brian Doherty of Boston, MA who the jury has voted PFRE Photographer of the Month for April. This is Brian’s fourth win as the PFRE Photographer of the Month. The other three wins were November and June 2016 and July 2015.

Here are Brian’s comments:

I am so thrilled to be this months winner in such a great competition for our industry. Thank you to the jury for voting for my image. I truly appreciate the recognition.

I photographed this home in February on a very cold and windy day. The challenge was how do I make this look like a nice summer day?  I was debating on whether or not to open the doors to highlight the view and the Juliet balcony for fear of freezing to death and also wind blowing the mirror off the wall.  But once I figured out where I should set up my lights, I propped open the door.

This image consisted of one ambient and one flash frame. I placed one light just right of the door, blasting up into the wall ceiling joint.  And another camera right off the back wall on very low power. I then merged into photoshop where I dodged and burned the highlights and shadows using curves adjustment for some added dimension.
