A Great Success Story that I Have to Pass On!

March 22nd, 2017

Last week, I ran across a real estate photography success story that I have to pass along. Success stories like this keep me going and are my major form of payment and I’m sure they help beginning real estate photographers too.

This success is about Christian Knutti in Youngstown, OH. Christian told me:

I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate this site and your books. I started a real estate photography business one year ago when I was a senior in High School and used your books to learn everything I know. This has made my dreams come true in so many ways, I am now so busy (15 to 20 shoots a week) that I need to hire and train another photographer. This site was truly the best tool possible for me, and I often reference back to it when I forget something.

My advice to someone starting out would be to never give up; even when they hang up on you, even when they insist their pictures are fine. All it takes is one call to someone who cares to listen to you. I actually skipped my lunch period to sit in my car and make calls and printed your books out and put them in a binder; reading them every second I could. You should host seminars, I would certainly attend!

I relate personally to Christian’s story and not just because he used my books. It’s because I have a grandson Christian’s age that I’m trying to get started in real estate photography. Jobs for kids this age are not easy to find. Christian’s persistence and hard work are a great example for anyone starting out in this business.

  • What an uplifting story! That’s great to hear about Christian’s success and I really applaud his determination: cold calling has to be one of the toughest aspect of business development, one I am sure we’d all much prefer to shy away from in favour of researching and purchasing new gear! People like Christian, bravely setting up their own businesses and testing new ground, are going to form the backbone of the new economy, and in Christian’s case, provide opportunities for employment in an uncertain world.

  • Great story for sure and congratulations to Christian. It’s a real thrill to watch an arrow hit its target!! Having your own business at such a young age is certainly a great accomplishment. Kudos to all here who encourage and mentor Christian and other young people to follow their dreams and create their own business.

I have a feeling this isn’t the last we are going to hear of Christian’s accomplishments.

    Well done and continued success!!

  • Great stuff and glad to see him become successful at it! Sales for most without a business background are rough. Perserverance, determination, hard work, and a strong worth ethic are key and it looks like it’s paying off. I applaud all of those willing to share their techniques and helpful tips along the way for the betterment of the profession. I know I certainly couldn’t be where I am now without this site, the photographers, and the educators around it.

  • Kudos! Well done.

  • Great stuff! It’s great to see another young guy out here. 🙂

  • Way to go Christian! You are an inspiration to so many of us.

  • Good job, Christian! What a great example and what an inspiring story. Keep up the good work. And thank you, Larry, for helping the community.
