This Week In Real Estate Video #83 – The Meadows – Burnsville, NC

November 8th, 2013

MedowsThe last few days a lovely property video by Heath Cowart and team came through my inbox via a YouTube subscription.

To me there are several things I really like about this little video:

  1. Several aerial shots: they are short but very valuable for giving a property big picture perspective. For this kind of property aerial shots like this are invaluable!
  2. High quality video: I’m not sure what Heath is doing other than using a Canon C150, but the quality on Heath’s video looks really great on my 27″ screen!
  3. Realtor sermon is short: Home owners do a nice relaxed job of talking about their property and the Realtor spends a minimum amount of time on screen. Heath and his team do a great job directing agents and home sellers.

All in all, a very pleasant little property video!

  • Nice video. Well done.

Thanks for picking our video. We had a lot of fun making it and always appreciate the recognition.

I just reread your second comment and thought I would add some detail. We use a Canon C100 as a primary camera with mostly Canon L series lenses. The second camera on the interview was a 5d mk2. We find that that C100 image is sharper looking and becasue it has a wider dynamic range everything tends to look less contrasty and just better. We also find that the C100 allows us to work faster especially when recording audio.

  • @Heath – this may be your best work (high praise); really fantastic.

  • Why does the C100 allow you to work faster when recording audio? Also, what is your audio setup for all the different scenario’s in the video? Thanks.

  • Great video Heath & Melinda. The narration was key to making it all work. They are so sincere it was just a wonderful guided tour.

  • I photographed the same property a couple of years ago for the architect Armin L. Wessel of Burnsville, a long time client.
Heath, you did a great job!

The C100 has dual xlr inputs and I used Sony Lavs for everything. In the past I always used an H4 with DSLRs and synched in post which is slow to edit and disruptive on the set if you are using a clapper.
Thanks everyone for the kind words.

  • @Heath – Great job on the video. I am a HUGE fan of the style. The only minor thing I would recommend is hiding the lapel mic cables. It wasn’t too bad when they were sitting down but the scenes with them walking around I’m betting it was on your mind to take them off. With everything else so polished this would be the only flaw. Great job!

@Chad – I shoot with 5D Mark III cameras and Sennheiser G3 Lav Mics so when recording two people I use the Beachtek DXA-SLR Active XLR adapter for DSLR Cameras. It takes a minute to set up and you’re good to go. It’s a much cheaper alternative than spending $5500 on a C100.

  • Very nice job! Perfection!

  • Consistently incredible work!

  • Great ‘Quality’ video- what a beautiful property. Heath- What did you use for your aerial shots?

  • Great work – well done.

I’m a big fan of the seller’s involvement in real estate vids but it has to be subtle (IMO) and you pulled it off beautifully.

  • Great job, showing the value of real estate video for property listing promotion!

  • Curious which camera you flew?
