This Week In Real Estate Video #57 – Yo! You Bett’a Be RAP’n Bro

May 10th, 2013

Thanks to my bro down in Perth (Dave Williamson)  for getting me going on this week in real estate video TWIRV. I was preoccupied this week with getting the new Real Estate Photographers Directory running so I didn’t have a subject for this week’s TWIRV until Dave sent me this little ditty by Raphael Alberto Perez (his initials are RAP).

Raphael’s video got coverage in HuffPo. Raphael did this whole video with his iPhone and a greenscreen. Turns out Raphael isn’t the only Realtor to be RAP’n. Here are some others:

Interestingly Raphael’s YouTube has already been remixed by DGMUSICisGOOD. This may be a first; a remixed property video.

This all goes to show you that if you are willing to get out there and do something wild and crazy on camera you can get a lot of  attention. After all marketing is all about getting attention. “I don’t care what you say about me, just spell my name right.” – P.T. Barnum

  • I’m all for creativity and doing something outside the box… but does something like this actually generate business for this Realtor? I find it a bit embarrassing actually… and the comments on HuffPo are pretty unanimously harsh as well.

    File under “head scratcher”….

  • I disinfected my monitor after watching this.

  • I honestly have to wonder if this video would lose more business than generate more business.

Would you want this guy selling your 300-500K house?….seriously?

“Outside the box” can only go so far before you begin to damage your image. And once your image as a realtor is damaged, its almost impossible to repair it as the public has thousands of other choices.

It too bad that so many realtors are taking real estate down to the used car sales level….

  • I just recently started trying to build a client list for my photography, and I watch this site regularly for suggestions and tips. I’ve been requested to start looking into video, and I understand that’s a portion of where the market is heading. It’s videos like this that make me realize it’s not productive to be hesitant, it’s just a matter of getting out there and doing it.

  • hmmmm…. I would have to agree Chris, Bruce and Fred… looks like some Realtor will go to any extent.. Sorry, that doesn’t look too Pro.

  • Really, this can’t really be a good example of “out-side-the-box”. Sometimes people actually want to learn about the property….what a concept. I guess I’m just “old school.”

  • I don’t think the aim of this video was to sell property, but simply to get RAP’s name out there. And he succeeded. Well done RAP. Having a sense of humour is allowed in real estate.

  • He sure got our attention 🙂
They say that even bad publicity is a good one, time will tell.

  • Found him here: (starts at 2:29 but watch it all!).

  • Yeah… not sure about this one. If he was trying to make a viral video, he succeeded. But I don’t know who would hire him to sell their home.

  • Even at that, I’m not sure I’d consider a video that has 59K views viral..

  • Although none of these guys came across as truly professional — The guy in San Diego has 67,400 views! That has got to be good for business . I have a feeling that he would have gotten quite a few listings and who knows how many buyers. Kudos to him!

  • It’s about sales results right?
