New Developments in Adobe Photoshop

March 4th, 2012

Since early February Adobe has been previewing pieces of new functionality coming in Photoshop CS6. You can see video clips of these previews on the Adobe Photoshop YouTube channel. This stream of previews suggests that Photoshop CS6 is coming soon.

To me one of the more compelling features is content aware move. It is certainly not essential for real estate photography but it’s just very cool! While I haven’t seen any essential features I can’t live without I’m definitely going to upgrade when the new Photoshop CS6 when it comes out. I admit it, I’m addicted to Photoshop. I just love Photoshop and the only way I’ll ever stop upgrading is if some one takes me kicking and screaming to an Photoshop 12 step program. My guess is that many out there are like me, they just upgrade because they are addicted to Photoshop updates.

The other new Photoshop inovation is Photoshop Touch. I haven’t been able to try this because my iPad is an iPad 1 and besides, I can’t get my iPad away from my 2 year old granddaughter. I have to admit the concept is interesting but I’m just not a believer on this one yet. Looks like it Photoshop Touch is a no brainer if you area a Creative Cloud subscriber otherwise it may be and awkward to get access to all the files you need to and from your iPad. The other thing that makes me skeptical is I’ve just not moved beyond using my iPad for media consumption. I love my iPad for media consumption but if I’m going to do photo-editing of any kind I want to do it on my laptop or desktop. I guess I’m a little old fashion in this respect.

  • You likely already know of the new “adaptive wide angle” filter in CS6 beta. I’ve only seen video of others making use of the new tool, but it looks like an amazingly powerful tool for correcting lens distortion. This seems like big news for real estate photography. Got to have those verticals vertical, after all.
