Signs of Real Estate Market Recovery In San Francisco

March 28th, 2009

My friend Jennifer who is a Realtor in Seattle sent me this TV clip from KPIX Channel 5 in San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose. This is the first positive story I’ve seen about the real estate market for a long time. Trends frequently start in California for whatever reason so this is encouraging. I’ll be more encouraged when I hear that this is occurring in other markets as well.

  • San Diego County has some areas picking up because of the low mortgage rates, and in some areas the large number of high income households (still with jobs).

  • We do see multiple offers for 300K to 600K houses in Silicon Valley. One of our client just got her offer accepted when there were total 10 offers (we lost 3 times before this one).

  • I just talked with a Realtor in San Diego, he said that things were picking up. Good news for all of us. Lets hope its a sign of things to come for the rest of the nations real estate markets.
