OVERVIEW

For over a decade, photographers from around the world have participated in PFRE’s monthly photography contests, culminating in the year-end crowning of PFRE’s Photographer of the Year. With a new theme each month and commentary offered by some of the finest real estate & interior photographers anywhere, these contests offer a fun, competitive environment with rich learning opportunities.

Contest Info

Photo Contest

Purpose of the Contest:

This is a residential property photography contest (i.e., images captured of either the interior or exterior of a home are permitted). Photographs of commercial properties are not allowed.

Entering the Contest

  • Entrants are to submit their photos directly by registering on the Photo Contest page
  • Only one entry per contestant is permitted each month.
  • Entries are permitted from 12.00am UTC on the 1st to 11.59pm UTC on the 20th of each month. 
  • Contestants are not to identify themselves when submitting a photograph into the contest. That is, no identifying data of any sort (i.e., watermark, URL, email address, etc.) is to be attached to the entered photo. Entries that show such identifying information will be disqualified.
  • Contestants are permitted to enter photographs that have previously appeared in other “venues” (e.g., previous POTM contests, PFRE Flickr Group, Instagram, Facebook, the photographer’s website, etc.)
  • Photographs should be captured and edited, in full, by the person entering them.
  • Photographers who win three (3) contests in a given year, will not be permitted to enter further contests in that year. However, that photographer will be permitted to enter contests the following year.
  • Once someone has been named Photographer of the Year, they are no longer permitted to enter the POTM contests.

Commenting on Entries:

  • Entrants must not comment on any entry, including their own, until after the winner is announced.
  • Jurors are permitted to post their comments at any point during the contest period.

Jurors are NOT permitted to enter the contest.

Winning the POTM Contest:

  • Jurors will submit their votes (based on entry number only) between the 23rd and the end of each month.
  • Each PFRE Juror will vote on up to three entries, respectively, using defined criteria (i.e., composition, lighting, editing and overall impact).
  • After all juror votes have been tallied each month, the photographer who’s accumulated the most points is deemed the winner.
  • The winner of the contest will be announced at the end of each month.

Winning the POTY Contest:

  • Each December, the PFRE Photographer of the Year will be chosen from all the monthly winners that year.
  • For the POTY contest, jurors conduct an in-depth review of each POTM-winning photographer’s entire body of work, with consideration given to elements such as:
    • consistently high levels of excellence, overall, throughout all galleries/portfolio;
    • technical difficulty of the images produced;
    • seeing a “wow factor” (i.e., something that makes the collection of images memorable in some way); and
    • the extent to which the photographer contributes/gives back to the PFRE community (i.e., posting images, regularly commenting on others’ photos, etc.)

Winners Receive

POTM & POTY winners receive:

  1. A large Photoshop file of the PFRE Photographer of the Month logo for use on their website and advertising. The POTY winner receives the PFRE Photographer of the Year logo for use on their website and a commemorative trophy.
  2. An entry on the PFRE Best-of-the-Best page (see next section) that contains the photographer’s winning photo and a link to their website.
  3. A PFRE post that features their business.

Best of the Best–Past POTM & POTY Winners:

Legal Requirements:

  • By entering this contest, contestants agree to have their photo posted on photographyforrealestate.net for the purpose of recognition and historical record.
  • Winners agree to release Brandon Cooper/Realpics 2023567 AB Ltd. of any liability resulting from any infringement of the submitted image by any third party.
  • This contest is void where prohibited by law.

 

VIDEO CONTEST

Purpose of the Contest:

The Photography For Real Estate monthly competition is a jury judged real estate property video contest held every month. Instructions are as follows:

Entering the Contest

  • Entrants are to submit their videos directly by registering on the Video Contest page.
  • Comments can be made on each individual entry
  • Video entries can be hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook, Dailymotion, or Instagram

Contest Schedule

  • Entries can be made anytime the Video Contest page is open for posting.
  • Adding Entries will typically be from the 1st of the month through the 20th of the month unless a contest has been extended into the next month. All time and dates are UTC/Zulu/GMT.
  • Only one entry per month per contestant.
  • The contest is open to individuals, teams and studios.
  • The PFRE Video Jury votes on videos from the 23rd of the month through the end of the month.
  • The jury listed below chooses the winner.
  • At the end of each month, the winner will be announced via a post on the PFRE Blog.
  • Every December a real estate videographer of the year is chosen from all the monthly winners that year.

Contest Rules

There will be a new contest each month. If there are less than 6 or 8 entries it will be extended into the next month. The contest is open for entries from the 1st through the 20th each month.
  • Entrants can participate in the video contest by posting their video to the Video Contest page.
  • For communication purposes, contestants MUST provide their: full name, location, website URL and email address, without this information their entry will be deleted before voting begins.
