PFRE Idol Award and Selection Process

The PFRE idol is chosen by a vote of their peers. Winners will receive:

  1. A link on the front page of PFRE blog (on the left side-bar under “PFRE Idols”.
  2. A 1 year REP directory registration or renewal.
  3. A PFRE post featuring the photographer and their work.
  4. A PFRE Idol award logo to display on their site or marketing materials.

Here’s how the process will work:

  1. Any PFRE flickr group member can nominate themselves by posting images to the monthly PFRE Idol discussion thread.
  2. Contestants for a month are limited to the first 5 group members to post an initial photo for review.
  3. Each week, each of the 5 contestants will post a required (see below) photo on the PFRE Idol thread (everything for a given month is done on the same discussion thread). Wk#1: A front shot, Wk#2: A kitchen shot, Wk#3: A living room or great-room shot, Wk#4: A bathroom shot and for 5 week months Wk#5: A master bedroom shot.
  4. At any time during the month PFRE flickr members are encouraged to discuss contestants posted work in the idol thread.
  5. On the last 48 hours of the month Larry will put up a Poll for the 5 contestants on the front page of the PFRE blog so everyone can participate in selecting the PFRE Idol.

  • Larry,
I think this is a great idea. I’ve thought about proposing the same thing. Competition brings out the best in all of us.

  • Larry,
Good idea. I do have a quick comment. By simple majority I’m assuming you mean “more ballots cast for a nominee than for any other”. In the US simple majority mean getting 50+% of the votes.

  • Cape Girardeau - Yes, I mean just more votes than anyone else… I fixed that in the text above. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • Larry,

what is the cut-off date/day in each month for nomnations? and how long after this will the PFRE POTM be listed?

By the way - nice idea.

    Regards
    Andrew

3-Announcement 8th day of the month
