Here are Brandon’s comments:

This was a fun home to shoot. I walked away with a handful of images I would be happy to have in my portfolio. At first, I thought this particular room would be a bit of a challenge to shoot – then I threw a one point perspective on top of it! Luckily, I had white walls and a light decor to work with. I only ended up needing to use three lights. I had a strobe outside the far window to the right with a bounce umbrella, another off camera right with a bounce umbrella shooting directly across to the left and handheld a speedlight that was bounced off of the ceiling. That’s it! Having a couple of battery powered strobes really makes things easy when you’re trying to bring a view through the windows and nail it in one shot. A few tweaks in Lightroom and it was set!

Congrats to everyone who submitted images. It’s been a while since I’ve submitted something and I know it’s not always easy putting your work out there for people to judge and critique!

  • Nice job, Brandon! That is a spectacular image for sure; thanks for sharing!

  • Congratulations Brandon, nice shot, I love the lighting.

I’m always afraid to use an umbrella outside again. Even with a heavy stand and weights my flash blew over.
how did you steady the outside light and stand?

  • Congrats, Brandon!

  • Well done Brandon! Congratulations on the win!

  • Thanks everyone!

I have a set of these lights: http://www.adorama.com/FPLFRL600B.html?RRref=topBrands

I don’t like to use umbrellas outside either, but I like the soft light it gives. I was lucky enough that it wasn’t too windy that day and that they were somewhat out of the elements outside on the patio. If the realtor is just standing around, I’ll put them to work holding my gear sometimes!

  • Congrats Brandon well deserved!

  • Congrats, Brandon!

  • Congratulations!! Really like how light was used in this photo with the décor and view. Gave the feeling of a relaxing escape.
