Image Editing for Real Estate Photography – Video Series Chapter 6 – “Painting” Brown Grass Green – Extensively Updated – FREE for viewing until April 15

March 20th, 2016

GreenGrassJohn McBay has just released a complete revision of Chapter 6 – “Painting” Brown Grass Green.

There are now three separate videos, one each for Photoshop, Elements, and Lightroom. In the previous version, there was only one video and it covered both Photoshop and Elements.

The technique from the previous version has been extensively revised. The new method is easier, quicker and allows better control over the final appearance of the “painted” lawn. The Lightroom video is entirely new.

All three of these videos show you how to turn a dormant, wintertime, straw-colored lawn into a lush green summertime lawn in just a few minutes. The method retains both the texture and the luminosity of the existing lawn. The new lawn will look 100% natural.

These videos are free for you to watch until April 15. After that time, they will only be available to purchasers of Image Editing for Real Estate Photography – the video series.

  • John, Thanks for the tutorials. An issue I often have are homes that have been foreclosed and the yard hasn’t been maintained. In some instances, I should be able to put some life back into the exterior photos.

  • Thanks for sharing the tutorials. I was especially interested in the Photoshop video and after watching it I can say it was good. I would recommend it to all estate photographers who either want enhance their skills or photographers who just started doing property photography as this video is a great way to start…

  • Thanks, however isn’t it strange to have greenish vibrant grass but leafless trees?

  • Thanks Ken & Robert.

Vida, you are correct, but there may be many situations that do not show leafless trees or where it isn’t obviously winter. There are also areas that have trees with year round leaves and yet the lawns go brown.

  • John McBay – Green trees & brown lawns…like here in California! You bet!

  • Some in California spray paint their lawns, while others in Phoenix carpet their yards (astroturf).

So which is better, the photoshopped versions or the spray painted lawns?

    Neither, they’re both cheesy.
