John McBay has just released a new chapter in the video series, Image Editing for Real Estate Photography. The title of Chapter 32 is “Exposure Fusion & HDR”. Click on the image to the right to view it free from now until March 15, 2016.
Chapter 32 consists of three separate videos, altogether totaling almost 4 hours in length. It provides a broad overview of the use of Exposure Fusion and HDR specifically targeted towards the needs of Real Estate photographers. The videos cover four broad areas:
- A general discussion of Fusion (exposure fusion) and HDR (tone mapped HDR). What is it? How does it work? What can it do? What can’t it do? What are its limitations, strengths, and weaknesses?
- How do you shoot fusion/HDR? What camera settings do you use? How do you determine a proper starting exposure? How many images do you shoot & at what exposure difference? How do you use flash with fusion/HDR? What can you do if your camera does not have the ability to shoot bracketed images automatically?
- A feature comparison of Enfuse, Oloneo Photo Engine, Photoshop HDR Pro, Lightroom HDR, and Photomatix Pro. The following properties are evaluated for each program; type of output (fusion or HDR), image quality, how does it handle batch processing, will it align handheld images or is a tripod required, how does it handle ghosting, how extensive are the presets and image appearance controls, time to process a three image bracket, price. Each program’s interface is shown, explained and evaluated. Images demonstrating the abilities of each program in the areas of image quality, alignment and ghosting are shown and compared. If the program supports it, the videos demonstrate how to batch process a folder of images and the tricks to make the process as painless as possible.
- An in-depth discussion of how to use Photomatix Pro, both single bracket and batch. Which parameters to adjust and which to leave alone? Unlocking the secret to batch processing without any prior image preparation or organization.
This video is free for you to watch until March 15. After that time, it will only be available to purchasers of Image Editing for Real Estate Photography – the video series.
