Husband and Wife Real Estate Photography Team Success In Brisbane

November 1st, 2011

I heard from Cam and Laura yesterday, a husband and wife real estate photography team that operate Urban Images in Brisbane, AU.

Cam and Laura are celebrating their fourth year in the real estate photography business this month. Here’s how Cam and Laura describe their success:

I just wanted to drop you an email to share a little success story from Brisbane, Australia. My wife and I (“Campbell S” on Flickr) run a RE photography business and are celebrating our 4th birthday in November 2011. I have no idea how our business compares to others in terms of success but we are very happy with the way things have gone.

I have found the help both on your site and the Flickr group invaluable….it has enabled us to offer a much more professional product compared to when we first started. I have downloaded both your and Scott’s eBooks and have participated in one of Scott’s workshops, none of which would have been possible without the group.

We are currently shooting around 18 houses per week and 12 months ago introduced floor plans as a product to compliment the images.

We have also found that while offering a superior product is important, just as important is the relationship you build with your agents, it has been an interesting journey to say the least.

I would like to think that while there are plenty of successful PFRE businesses out there this might be another example of how, when you put the effort in, open your mind and learn new things you can make a great little business, starting from scratch.

Wow, 18 shoots a week is around 900 shoots a year. Sounds pretty successful to me! Thanks Cam and Laura for your feedback and success story. Keep these success stories coming, people that are just starting real estate photography need this kind of encouragement and there’s nothing better to hear from those who have done it.

  • Impressive indeed!

I have no idea how they are able to get 3-4 shoots done every day. Travel to and from each location, light (yes they are properly lit) and shoot, post-production work, getting deliverable out, drawing floorplans, all while also getting all things needed to go out and do the same again the following day? That’s the really impressive part!

I’d love to hear how they are able to get all that done and still get some sleep!

  • Congratulations to Cam & Laura on their success!! Well done!
    Keep up the outstanding work!

  • Very impressive indeed. I always love to hear or read success stories of people that are in the same profession as I am. As far as being able to shoot 3-4 shoots a day, then do a post processing, and go and do the same thing all over again the next day, I am thinking it is possible to do if you are outsourcing post processing part of your stills to the third party. All you have to do then is concentrating just taking pictures.
