Vimeo and Veoh will NOT let you use their sites (even if you upgraded accounts on Vimeo) for Real Esate tours. Both sites have shut my account down for that very reason.

So, were you in fact misusing a personal account or is this some kind of strong-arm tactic? Anyway, is the new deal a good one?

Just an update to this:

Received today:

Thank you for looking at Viddler for your video hosting needs.

We have seen your usage increase over last month and due to commercial/marketing nature of content would like to seriously suggest taking a look at our business services programs. It's a high quality service that includes HD, Analytics, iTunes and Control over Advertising.

You can find out more about the benefits of Viddler Business Services at http://b2b.viddler.com.

If you get back today via email can cut you enterprise level deal starting at $10/month minimum instead of $100/month minimum.

Unfortunately we will to close your account in 24 hours if we don't hear back due to misuse of a personal account.

Unbranded real estate videos that you desensitize and remove branding, local broker audio connection can be a lot of work to upload and to see the video platform open with an ad or dump your whole collection is not fun. But with framing of other broker sites from the mls/idx happening, your video needs to be broadcast with branded and unbranded versions that you save when editing each. Watching for new sites that work well for this purpose.

Beware of what Michael wrote. Just like photography websites, some video websites will want you to give up your Copyright. Your real estate video may end up on other sites, and/or used in ways that you woudn't like.

Larry thanks for the great links.
I wanted to post a question to everyone regarding video. Since the last post about the use of video, specifically so mobile users can view the tour on their portable devices I have been messing around with putting all of my tours on Youtube. I have been exporting (sharing) a slideshow o f still images from iMovie HD from my computer as a full quality .mov file and have really been getting a mixed bag of results as far as quality of the tour. Most of the time the better quality movies won't even upload, I get a conversion error. Now, I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for, I'm just trying to get a better quality movie and was wondering if anyone out there has had luck with iMovie HD and Youtube?

These 'lists' change like the wind, of course as all of these companies scramble around trying to figure out how to take advantage of the video revolution AND make money at the same time! YouTube is the classic - they add new features almost weekly in their attempt to finally make YouTube profitable - they're just throwing stuff at the wall and hoping something will stick....

I use MotionBox. They have an unbranded player, full HD embeds, etc. I've been in their 'pilot' PRO program for the past year, and pay a bit over $110/mo for bandwidth, etc. They are fully implementing their new PRO program now, and details are here: http://www.motionbox.com/content/pro

HOWEVER, if you're not part of this program, you cannot use Motionbox for commercial or business purposes either. It is a personal upload site only.

The other issue is a blurring of the definition of "video". If you're wanting to take a still slideshow and convert it to a video FORMAT to upload to video sites, many of these companies will have no problem with that. However some, like WellcomeMat.com or RealeFlix.com (which is not on this list and is real estate specific), do NOT allow or consider still photography slideshows as video. They only allow true moving picture video and will remove slideshows.

Personally, I would stay away from any free sites for videos that matter, such as those that are visible on the MLS. Nothing in this world is free, especially bandwidth. Considering the economy, the lack of VC money, etc., any sites that offer "free" services to everyone will either 1) Go out of business, effectively removing all of your videos (it's happened on more than one occasion over the past few years or 2) Begin charging (and you may not like the price. Brightcove offered a free service, then one day started charging. Their least expensive option was $300/mo. They were really not interested in user generated video at all).

WellcomeMat.com not only welcomes and encourages real estate video, they offer a multitude of player and distribution options as well. Plus, they offer a branded AND unbranded version for the MLS, and if you're doing a real estate video and it's NOT appearing on the MLS - what's the point? Many MLS systems will not allow distribution by YouTube or similar sites because they link out to other sites, and they don't want that.

I upload every video to 12 sites, but the one that matters to me is Motionbox as that is what appears on the MLS, it's unbranded, it's accepted by the MLS, and my original files are also stored on their servers and available for download at any time. Plus, I can embed in HD. The other sites are just for distribution. If they shut down, it won't affect my business at all.
