Visual Acoustics: The Modernism of Julius Shulman
October 31st, 2008
I did a post on the new Julius Shulman film by Eric Bricker back in July but I want to point it out again because the film is being shown a independent film festivals and the site promoting the film (www.juliusshulmanfilm.com ) has been expanded a lot since July. There is now a trailer of the film and a list of places where the film will be shown.
There was an article on the film by Charles Ealy appearing in the Austin American-Statesman.
The film will be shown next at:
- The film will play next in Fort Worth, TX at the Kimbell Art Museum (Nov. 15th) through the Lone Star International Film Festival.
- And a screening in St. Louis, MO at the Tivoli Theater (Nov. 22nd) through the St. Louis International Film Festival.
- The film will also play at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January.
- The film will make a European premiere sometime in the beginning of 2009.
No date yet for when the DVD will be released but I promise to let you know as soon as it is available.
Shulman fans should also see the post I did back in March that relates the story of PFRE reader and flickr group participant, David Palermo’s personal meeting and photographic discussion with with 97 year old Shulman.
Prints of some of Shulman’s images, signed by both Shulman and the Architect he shot the image for, are available on the www.juliusshulmanfilm.com site for from $3,000 to $5,000 USD. Now there’s a goal for you budding Architectural shooters!
