Scott is a man of great integrity, with an incredible work ethic and most importantly, he is an excellent father. When I heard of Scott's need, I immediately ordered the kit to register as a donor. He is such a remarkable man and a great friend and I will do what I can to help. I do find the response about the use of Chinese interventions intriguing and perhaps this may be another avenue for Scott to pursue, if he has not already. My daughter had AML, the most aggressive form and even a transplant didn't help. Given 6 weeks to live we brought her home to die. I had studied all kinds of treatments during her two year stay at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, one of the leading cancer hospitals in the world. Most were just quackery, relying upon desperate people to do desperate things - for a fee of course. I discovered that traditional Chinese medicine seemed to offer some things that Western medicine did not and as a last reosrt took my daughter to a well regarded Chinese practitioner. To cut a long story short, to the amazement of all of her doctors, she is still alive and well after 15 years. The Chinese believe that although leukemia manifests itself in the bone marrow, it's origin is in the kidneys. She was treated with a regimen of herbal soups and acupuncture to boost her immune system and kidney function. Even her cancer specialists, agreed that it was this treatment that saved her life - even though they couldn't officially approve of it. Because traditional Chinese practioners are not certified and regulated, you can get a lot of bad ones in with the good. But I think it is worth the investigative effort to find a skilled one.
