Great e-book! I am a real estate agent and have done commercial photography in the 80's until the economy in Texas hit bottom in the late 80's. I had to make a living so I got into real estate. I remember the old days having to shoot 8X10 view cameras, had to use chrome film and Polaroid’s for tests to make architects & Ad Agencies happy. My day rate back then was $2,500 plus expenses. I switched to digital in 2001, I love it. I just wished I was 30 years younger. I have been selling residential real estate for the past 6 years and I have other agents after seeing my photos of my listings ask me how much I would charge to photograph their listings. When I tell them what I would charge their mouth drops open and have that deer in headlights look. There reply is that they pay $99 or whatever to have so & so do it and I say that is a good deal I would stay with them. The majority of real estate agents are very tight with their money. I learned from Art Directors to go first class when marketing anything. You are very right about great quality images sell. The whole goal of a listing agent is to get as many showings as possible because it is a numbers game in real estate, the more showings the better chance of that right buyer walking through the door and writing an offer. I could go on and on.
I have agents also ask me what camera they should buy or look at these photos I have taken what did I do wrong? I think your book is fabulous especially for real estate agents that don’t have a clue what it takes to make great photos. In our area I would say at least 60% of all listings no matter what price they are the photos are HORRIBLE, I don’t know how they get away with it.
I have emailed every agent I know a link to your book ordering site. I have also put this information on a card so when I am asked a question about photography I can hand it to them and they can order your book to answer all their questions. I don't want to come off sounding like a snob, but somebody has to stick up for all the hard working real estate photographers out there and not getting paid what they are worth. Thank You for writing this Book and letting me vent!
